In today’s world of digitalization, it is imperative for every business organization to adopt trending modern-day technologies to solve business problems. Ab Initio Software is a widely used Business Intelligence Data Processing Platform. It is used to build a vast majority of business applications – from operational systems, distributed application integration, and complex event processing to data warehousing and data quality management systems.

ETL is short for extracting, transforming, loading. During the ETL process, data is extracted from various sources and transformed into business required data after applying business rules and validation. Final data will be load into different destinations.

The above graph clearly depicts that ETL tools have a sustainable stronghold in the near future across the globe in various domains like marketing, analytics, etc.
Why should you choose Ab Initio among other ETL tools?

  • One-stop Solution
Ab Initio provides wide range of data processing solutions.
GDE (Graphical Development Environment): The code development tool is developer-friendly.
Metadata hub: Acts as a central hub to organize meta data for different applications.
Continuous Flow:  Helps in processing the real-time data.
BRE (Business Rule Engine) and Express>it: Allows analysts to write business rules with minimal technical knowledge.
Conduct>It: Orchestrates the execution of graphs, monitoring and providing operational statistics.
Legacy Modernization: Converts Mainframe based COBOL codes to Ab Initio transform procedural code.
EME (Enterprise Meta data Environment): Technical repository for version control and Metadata management.

The development time in handling the errors is much less than many of its competitors.

  • Efficiency
ETL platform provides a lot of features from built-in components. The data is sorted and processed quickly.

  • Flexibility
No limitation on the versatility of converting data in any form regardless of the type of input. We can modify the data as required. The pipeline of data and ‘Help File’ provided by Ab Initio is very useful.

  • User friendly
It allows people with limited programming experience to build queries or configurations which can be saved and made available for testing by others.

  • Compatibility
It is quite compatible, as it performs well with millions and billions of records in which parallel techniques are exceptional.

How Ab Initio is the future of the ETL market?

  • Business Decisions
Ab Initio as an ETL tool helps companies to analyze their business data for making critical business decisions.

Conclusion

To conclude, with the above features that Ab Initio offers, it is a one-stop destination in the situation of mergers and acquisitions as it helps in developing a wide range of applications in data transferring. Its versatility and multiple uses in various domains makes it an essential part of organizations.

Although there are many open source and other compititers, Ab Initio still stand strong. It is because it's adoption to new age business and technology, excellent support and one stop solution to all Data driven problems.

Ab initio is no doubt the master of all ETL products. It suits mostly on high volume of data. But smaller or data where data not in TB size probably other ETL tools which are quite lesser in COST will suit.
After Big Data technologies prevailing , not sure how Abinitio is surviving...
ON job search front,, people who have Abinitio skills are in general lesser in need.

One of the reasons could be the complexity difference. At our company we need many more people to process same number of graphs in Big Data env vs distributed AbInitio. I do totally agree with smaller data loading needs an enterprise ETL solution is not warrented.

It is not the next big thing rather it is the most powerful data processing and metadata management platform we have seen in past two decades. However the due Ab Initio's peculiar sales and marketing strategy and pricing it's gradually losing market share to emerging technologies.

It is a great and robust tool. It is all you need for any kind of data related task.
However I wonder how they will survive in the cloud area.

Great article! Been working with it for 5 years now. It blows all the previous tools I've worked with out of the water. I just wish the guys would advertise a little more - it's mind-blowimg that so few know about this amazing product. It's as close as you can get to a "silver bullet."
